Bledisloe Cup Ratings: Australia v New Zealand
Following a stunning victory for the Wallabies over the All Blacks, we rank both starting XV's out of a possible 10.
 
 
Wallabies
 
1. Scott Sio - 7
 
Solid in the scrums and got through quite a bit of work making 10 carries and 5 tackles, solidifying his starting role heading to Japan.
 
 
2. Tolu Latu - 7.5 
 
Excellent over the ball and stepped in at halfback on occasion. Hit his jumpers and went a long way to answering the Wallabies starting hooker role.
 
 
 
3. Allan Alaalatoa - 8
 
Powerful and aggressive in everything he did, he made a few hefty tackles, didn't give an inch at the scrums and got through a lot of graft.
 
 
4. Izack Rodda - 7
 
 
Fronted up to the All Blacks pack and carried strongly.
 
 
5. Rory Arnold - 8
 
Brilliant in everything he did for 55 minutes. He was a menace at the lineout, strong in his carries and set up a try for his blindside flanker.
 
 

6. Lukhan Salakaia-Loto - 8.5
 
One of his strongest games in some time for the Wallabies. He worked tirelessly off the ball and was all over the pitch before he was reward for his efforts with a try.
 
 

7. Michael Hooper - 8.5
 
 
Hooper made a mammoth 19 carries, pilfered the All Blacks attacking ball and put in his usual tireless shift for 80 minutes.
 
 
 
8. Isi Naisarani 7
 
The quietest of the Wallabies back row but Naisarani put in a solid and tidy shift that should do his World Cup hopes no harm.
 
 
9. Nic White - 9 
 
A sensational performance from the Exeter halfback. He controlled the game wonderfully, made the right decisions on attack and was on point with everything he did for 68 minutes.
 
 
 
He was also rewarded with a try.
 
 
 
 
10. Christian Lealiifano - 8 
 
 
Had some superb touches and combined superbly with Nic White. He tested the All Blacks defence with some nice dummies and worked in tandem with Kurtley Beale to pick the All Blacks' defence apart.
 
 
 

11. Marika Koroibete - 8
 
Chased down Ben Smith well in the opening minutes of the game to put the Wallabies on the front foot.
 
 
He continued in that vein throughout the game as got through a mountain of work. He racked up 73 running metres beating 3 defenders and also got his name on the scoresheet.
 
 

12. Samu Kerevi - 8 
 
Another strong performance from the Wallabies inside centre. He carried superbly well and always looked for the offload, one of which handing Nic White a try. He managed to make 90 running metres beating 5 defenders.
 
 
13. James O’Connor - 8.5
 
 
Simply brilliant in his return to the starting XV. He defended well and made a real impact on attack picking up two try assists.
 

14. Reece Hodge - 8 

Grabbed a brace as he popped up at the right place at the right time. Solid in everything he did and was a thorn in the All Blacks' defence beating 6 defenders and making 96 running metres, second only to Beale.
 
 
 
15. Kurtley Beale - 9 
 
 
OUSTANDING! Beale joins White as the highest rated players from the clash. He made some intelligent decisions, even when he was under pressure. He run superbly and kicked equally as well.
 
 
He also ran a stellar line to score the final try of the game and put in a performance that will end the fullback debate.
 
 
 
 
 
All Blacks
 
 

1. Joe Moody - 6

Held his own in the scrums and made an impressive 11 tackles in 50 minutes.


2. Dane Coles - 6


Assured performance without his usual brilliance, came under some pressure with his lineout throws.

3. Owen Franks - 6 


A similar performance to that of his propping partner.

4. Scott Barrett - 3

Busy on defence in the first half but his red card cost the All Blacks.



5. Samuel Whitelock - 7

Was put under pressure by the Wallabies lineout but Whitelock threw his weight around on defence making a massive 18 tackles and stepped up for his side and carried some of the load that was missing when Barrett was sent off.

6. Ardie Savea - 7

One of the All Blacks most effective ball carriers making over 76 running metres in a back row that we may not have seen the last of.

He also weighed in with 14 tackles, the third highest tally.

7. Sam Cane - 6

Solid without being as effective as he would have liked. Made all but one of his tackles and won a turnover.

8. Kieran Read - 8

Arguably the All Blacks best! Read had a performance that will silence some of his doubters making a match high 21 tackles, won two turnovers and produced a lovely assist for Laumape.

9. Aaron Smith - 5

Set up Rieko Ioane nicely for his try but it was a bit of an off day for the All Black halfback.

10. Richie Mo’unga - 7

A more assured performance in the #10 jersey for the Crusaders' man. He kicked well, run a nice attack with Barrett but his side was just outplayed by the Wallabies.

11. Rieko Ioane - 5 

Did well to finish off his try but its another average game for the All Black winger who was outplayed by Reece Hodge. He struggled in defence and did have some success on attack, but not much.

12. Anton Lienert-Brown  - 7

Looked lively at times and managed to beat 8 defenders while gaining 42 running metres. He also did well to score his try by following the kick and finally diving on the ball.

13. Jack Goodhue - n/a 

Looked like a real threat for the All Blacks and set up Anton Liernert-Brown's try before leaving the field injured before the 20 minute mark. He wasn't on the pitch long enough to give a fair rating.

14. Ben Smith  - 6

Covered well in defence at times but had little joy on attack. Never seems to have a terrible game in black.

15. Beauden Barrett - 7  
 

Looked dangerous when he touched the ball and managed to add to the scoreboard with a late try.

Barrett seems settled at fullback making 49 running metres and beat 4 defenders while combining well with Mo'unga when the All Blacks did get good attacking opportunities.
