6 Winners & Losers: Springbok squad announcement
- 596
South Africa will face England at Twickenham on Saturday 16 November 2024. Head coach Rassie Erasmus has today announced his matchday squad and here are our winners and losers.
Winners:
Wilco Louw:
The prop hasn’t played for the Springboks since 2021 and will make his return in the number 3 jersey this Saturday.
Eben Etzebeth:
The 33year old will extend his Springbok record as the most capped player to 130 caps.
Mannie Libbok:
Mannie returns to the starting line-up and will need only six points to become the 30th of 944 Springboks to reach a century of points.
Losers:
Makazole Mapimpi & Canan Moodie:
Both wingers had a great performance last week against Scotland and it is unfortunate that they are not featured in the squad to face England even though it is understandable that Rassie Erasmus is trying to rotate the squad as much as possible to give the players a rest.
Jaden Hendrikse:
The 24-year-old scrumhalf did not have the best of performances last week and it is not selected in this weeks team.
