Cardiff and the Dragons head into halftime all square at 10-10. Cardiff opened the scoring with an early penalty, with the Dragons picking up a red card after just 16 minutes to be down a player for the remainder of the match. Despite their numerical disadvantage, the Dragons drew level with a penalty before missing a long range shot at goal. Cardiff scored the first try of the match just after the half hour mark to lead 10-3. However, it was then the turn of Cardiff to pick up a red card just before the break, with the Dragons capitalizing with a score with the final play of the half to see the sides deadlocked at halftime.
