A highly-entertaining game here in Cardiff where the hosts come out the better of a game that produced 9 tries. Cardiff got off to a dream start after Rhys Patchell finished a fine move and then added the extras. Montpellier hit back with three tries from Jamie Mackintosh, Timoci Nagusa and Julien Malzieu, as well as a penalty and conversion from Benoit Paillague to extend their lead to 20-7. But, just on the cusp of half-time, Josh Navidi bundled over following a strong Cardiff maul. Montpellier suffered two sin-binnings for Bismarck Du Plessis and substitute Robins Tchale Watchou which allowed Lloyd Williams to get the second Cardiff try. The comeback wasn't over and Alex Cuthbert made a crucial interception to put his side back in the lead. Josh Navidi added his second and his side's fifth. Montpellier hit back with a Charles Geli try to get their bonus point but Rhys Patchell was on hand to ensure they only got one bonus point by extending the lead to 37-27. These two sides will do it all again next Thursday in France.
