Innard's rugby career began after his local football team folded, leading him to make the decision to pursue rugby. He initially played for Falmouth before moving on to Truro, where he was also attending college. It was during this time that he became a part of the Exeter Chiefs Academy system.

While playing for the Cornish Pirates in the Championship, Innard further developed his skills and gained valuable game time. He played in various positions such as flanker and center before ultimately settling as a hooker.

In 2017-18, Innard made a significant impact when he scored two tries in the final of the Anglo-Welsh Cup, helping Exeter Chiefs secure victory over Bath Rugby.

Currently, Innard is an established member of the Exeter Chiefs' first-team squad, consistently competing for a place in the match-day 23 due to his energetic and all-action style of play.
