Australia has a history of producing world-class openside flankers and after a bright start to his career, Carlo Tizzano looks as if he will be yet another world-class flanker from Down Under.
Tizzano, winger-turned-flanker, was a schoolboy prodigy and right after school he played open grade rugby for the University of WA in the Fortescue Premier Grade. He not only competed amongst the men, but remarkably Tizzano was also voted the competition’s best-and-fairest player and he was then drafted into the Force’s NRC side.
He moved to NSW and had his eyes set on Michael Hooper's seven jersey, forming a dynamic 'bash brothers' combination with Lachlan Swinton after bashing each other repeatedly in training.
A move to English second-tier team Ealing Trailfinders helped deliver some perspective and brought the best out of him on his return to the Western Force in 2023.
He was named Members MVP in 2024 and earned a call-up after injuries to Liam Wright and Fraser McReight
In 2024 he was named in Joe Schmidt's Wallaby squad ahead of the Rugby Championship
