Camberley-born back-row Matthews has represented the Enland Women 41 times (as of July 2021) as well as being a pivotal figure on the sevens circuit, which saw her pick up a bronze medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games alongside fellow teammate Thompson.
Making the switch to Worcester Warriors Women in 2020, Matthews made 12 appearances for the club during the 2020/21 term in which time she earned further international honours during the Autumn Tests and the triumphant Six Nations campaign.
Athletic, determined and leading by example, Matthews’ supreme form in the 2020 season culminated in her inclusion in the Team GB 7s squad.
In July 2021, she signed a new deal to remain wit Worcester Warriors Women.
