Alfie Petch, a former student at Ivybridge Community College, has quickly risen through the ranks of rugby since joining Bude RFC at the age of 14. Recognizing his potential, he was signed by the Exeter Chiefs Academy, where he has been honing his skills and developing as a player.
Represented England Under 17s in France in 2017. Joined Exeter Chiefs Academy at the age of 14. Signed a professional contract with Exeter Chiefs for the 2018/19 season. Played for England Under-20s in both the Six Nations and World Championships in Argentina during the 2018/19 campaign. Gained senior experience with Cornish Pirates, featuring in 23 matches in the Championship during the 2022 season.
Alfie Petch is currently a student with the Exeter Chiefs Rugby Academy, where he is completing his Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence (AASE) at Exeter College. In 2019 he has signed a three-year professional deal with Exeter Chiefs and continues to train and play alongside some of England's best young talents.
As a 128kg forward, Petch brings a significant physical presence to the game. He excels in the scrum, using his strength and power to provide a solid foundation for his team. Despite his size, he is also known for his agility and mobility, allowing him to contribute in open play and make an impact both offensively and defensively.
With his impressive progress and senior experience gained at an early stage in his career, Alfie Petch has a promising future ahead. As he continues to develop his skills and gain valuable playing time, he has the potential to become a formidable force in the front row and make a name for himself in professional rugby.
Petch signed for Northampton Saints ahead of the 2022/23 season.
