Werner Kok, a former SA Sevens Academy and DHL Western Province Under-19 star, made his debut in the 2013 Sevens series event at Twickenham. Since then, he has consistently delivered exceptional performances for the Blitzboks, earning recognition for his contributions to the team.

Kok's impact as a super-sub for the Blitzboks has been remarkable, and his talents were highlighted when he was included in both the Wellington and Tokyo Dream Teams during the 2013/14 season.

In 2015, Kok's outstanding performances in the 2014–15 IRB Sevens World Series led to him being named the World Rugby Sevens Player of the Year. He not only showcased his skills but also emerged as the leading tackler in the series.

His impressive performances earned him a place in the Springbok squad for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. He was named as a substitute for their first match against Spain, which South Africa won convincingly with a score of 24–0.

Later that year, Kok signed a loan deal with Western Province Rugby in late August. The move came as a result of injuries within the team and the absence of several players due to Springbok duties.

In July, Kok joined Top 14 champions Toulouse for a four-month stint as a "medical joker." This arrangement allowed him to provide cover for the team during the period when their frontline players were participating in the World Cup.

After his time in France, Kok returned to South Africa and joined the Durban-based Sharks. He featured in games against the British and Irish Lions, demonstrating his power and excitement as a back.

Impressed by his performances, the Sharks signed Kok to a new contract, extending his stay with the team until 2024. His abilities as a dynamic and skilled player continue to make an impact on the rugby field.
