A product of Paul Roos Gymnasium in Stellenbosch, he excelled as a dual-sport athlete, representing South Africa at junior level in both rugby and cricket before choosing rugby as his full-time career.
Norton captained the Junior Springboks to victory at the 2025 World Rugby U20 Championship and continued to lead the side during the 2026 campaign. Part of the DHL Stormers system, his leadership, athleticism and physical presence have seen him emerge as a future Springbok prospect
