Tom Pearson, born on October 26, 1999, is an English rugby union player who currently plays for London Irish in Premiership Rugby. His preferred position is in the back row.
Pearson's rugby journey began at the age of 6 when he started playing at his local rugby club in Bromyard, Herefordshire. He later joined Luctonians, another club in Herefordshire, where he continued to develop his skills. Pearson attended Dean Close School and Cardiff Metropolitan University, where he played for the 1XI team. Throughout his university career, he represented the team in 42 matches, competing in both the local Welsh league and the BUCS Super Rugby competition.
On June 21, 2021, Pearson signed with London Irish, marking a significant step in his professional rugby career. He made his debut for the club on October 23, 2021, in a match against Exeter Chiefs. Pearson made an immediate impact and was named Player of the Match in a victorious performance for London Irish.
In February 2022, Pearson's impressive form caught the attention of the England national team selectors, and he was called up to train with the England squad during the 2022 Six Nations Championship. He continued to excel for London Irish and scored his first try for the club in a match against Bristol on February 11, 2022.
However, on June 6, 2023, London Irish experienced financial difficulties and collapsed. As a result, it was announced that Pearson would be joining Northampton Saints for the upcoming 2023-24 season, marking a new chapter in his rugby career.
Outside of rugby, Pearson attended a boarding school in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, starting from Year 9. His brother, Will Pearson, also plays for Luctonians. Additionally, Pearson displayed his sporting abilities in cricket, representing the school's 1XI team.
With his promising talent and dedication to the sport, Tom Pearson continues to make strides in professional rugby, both at the club level and potentially on the international stage.
