Born in Limerick, Ireland, Hayes is a hard-working number 8 who is comfortable in the second row also. The brother of legendary Irish prop John Hayes, Tom's professional career began in Plymouth having played amateur rugby in Ireland with both Bruff and Shannon. In 2008 he moved to Exeter Chiefs where he became skipper soon after.
