A former USA Eagle, Lawrence has seen rugby from a player and coach’s perspective.

Prior to his appointment with Rugby ATL, Lawrence was the USA Rugby National Team Defense Coach (2017-2018) and remains the USA Rugby Selects Head Coach. He has successfully developed talent on an international scale as a USA Rugby U-20 Coach, a team which holds a winning record over 4 seasons in international play and won the 2012 Junior World Trophy

Prior to starting with Rugby ATL in 2019 Lawrence spent 15 years at Life University serving in various roles as Head Coach of the club and undergraduate, Director of Rugby, and Director of Performance. Lawrence was part of a talented group of coaches and administrators at Life University that grew from a humble start of 13 players in 2004 to competing in 10 National Championship games across club and undergraduate in the last decade, winning 7.

The former looseforwad earned five test caps for the USA during his playing career and took on the Rugby ATL role in 2019.

In January 2022, Lawrence resigned as Rugby ATL head coach, leaving assistant coaches Blake Bradford and Stephen Brett to lead the team in the interim.
