Carlisle born full back Murchie qualifies for Scotland through his Ayrshire born father, Finlay, who was also a rugby player. Murchie represented the nation of his birth, England, at both Universities and U-18 level. Murchie came through the academy system at Bath and spent stints on loan at London Welsh amongst others, before, in 2009, he joined Glasgow Warriors.
Murchie’s first ever Scottish appearance was an appearance for Scotland’s A side against the Irish Wolfhounds in 2011. A little over a year later, Murchie was named in the Scotland Senior Squad for their 2012 Autumn Internationals campaign.
In March 2016, Peter signed a new deal with the Warriors keeping him at Scotstoun until May 2017.
Murchie retired from professional rugby at the end of the 2017-18 season.
