Oliver John Hassell-Collins, born on January 17, 1999, is an English professional rugby union player primarily known for his exceptional skills as a wing. He currently represents Leicester Tigers in the Premiership Rugby and has also earned international recognition, having made his debut for the England national team during the 2023 Six Nations Championship against Scotland.
Hassell-Collins began his rugby journey at a young age, playing for his local club, Newbury R.F.C. His father coached him during this time before he joined the academy of London Irish at the age of sixteen. In 2017, he had the opportunity to showcase his talent as part of the England under-18 team during their tour of South Africa.
On October 27, 2018, Hassell-Collins made his club debut for London Irish in a RFU Championship match against Cornish Pirates, scoring a try. His contributions played a part in London Irish's promotion back to the Premiership at the end of that season. In 2019, he represented England U20 in the Six Nations Under 20s Championship and was also selected for the squad that finished fifth in the World Rugby Under 20 Championship.
During the summer of 2019, Hassell-Collins further demonstrated his versatility by representing the England Sevens team at the Paris Sevens tournament. His performances caught the attention of England head coach Eddie Jones, leading to his inclusion in the senior squad for a training camp in June 2021. He was once again called up for the 2022 Six Nations Championship.
Under the guidance of new coach Steve Borthwick, Hassell-Collins was named in the England squad for the 2023 Six Nations Championship. On February 4, 2023, he made his debut for England, starting in their opening-round defeat against Scotland.
