Oliver Jonathan Devoto, known as Ollie Devoto, was born on September 22, 1993, in Yeovil, Somerset.
He grew up in Sherborne, Dorset, and attended The Gryphon School in Sherborne. Devoto started playing rugby at a young age for his local club, Sherborne RFC, and represented Dorset & Wiltshire at under-16 and under-18 levels, as well as the South West under-16 side.
At the age of 16, he was signed by the Bath Rugby academy and received a sixth form scholarship at Bryanston School.
Devoto made his debut for Bath Rugby's senior side on September 8, 2012, as a substitute in a Premiership match against London Wasps.
He joined RFU Championship side Cornish Pirates on a dual-registration deal in March 2013 but did not make an appearance for the club. In the 2014-15 LV Cup, Devoto's performances earned him the 2014 LV= breakthrough player award, and Sherborne RFC received a £1,000 donation as part of the award.
He played a significant role in Bath's 2015 Premiership final but came on as a replacement for the injured Anthony Watson.
In January 2016, Devoto signed a three-year contract with Exeter Chiefs, another Premiership club. He made his debut for Exeter in the 2016-17 season and started in the final as the Chiefs defeated Wasps to become the champions of the English Premiership.
Devoto has been a key player for Exeter Chiefs, helping them reach multiple Premiership finals and winning their second Premiership title in October 2020 against Wasps. He was also part of the Chiefs' victorious campaign in the Heineken Champions Cup, defeating Racing 92.
On the international stage, Devoto has represented England at various levels. He was part of the England U20 side that won the Six Nations Under 20s Championship in 2013 and the IRB Junior World Championship, where England triumphed over Wales in the final.
Devoto made his senior England debut in May 2016 against Wales and has since made appearances in the Six Nations and other international matches.
Throughout his career, Devoto has showcased his skills as a versatile back, capable of playing as a centre and fly-half. His performances have made him an important player for both Exeter Chiefs and the England national team.
