Wright began playing rugby as a child in New Zealand, coached by her father. She later played at the University of Otago before representing provincial sides including Otago Spirit and Canterbury Women. After relocating to Scotland in 2017, she joined Watsonians and helped them win the Sarah Beaney Cup, earning Player of the Match in the 2019 final. She signed with Sale Sharks Women in 2021.
She made her debut for the Scotland women's national team in January 2020 against Spain. Since then, she has become a regular member of the Scotland squad, competing in the Women's Six Nations and earning more than 25 international caps. She was also selected for Scotland's squad for the 2025 Women's Rugby World Cup.
Outside rugby, Wright is a qualified physiotherapist. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she worked within the NHS helping rehabilitate patients recovering from the virus while continuing her rugby career
24 June 2026 she announced her retirement from rugby
