During his playing career, the former wing and centre made 50 appearances for the Rotherham Titans before being honoured with the role of captain at just the age of 23.

Blackett went on to make a handful of appearances before the side were eventually relegated to the National Division One.

Following 24 appearances, Blackett was regarded as one of the division's top players, with a strong reputation as a reliable defender.

Yorkshire Carnegie Tykes then signed Blackett near the end of the 2005/2006 season on loan.

One of his playing accollades includes scoring the Premiership's fastest ever try against Newcastle Falcons in the 2007-08 Premiership, crossing the try line after just 8.2 seconds.

His coaching career saw him become the youngest coach in the Championship in 2013 when, at age 30 he was appointed by the Rotherham Titans.

He was then appointed interim head coach duties at Wasps following the departure of former director of rugby Dai Young in January 2020.

During his interim spell, Blackett won three of his four matches in charge to move within two points of fourth-placed Northampton before the coronavirus pandemic curtailed action, enough to earn a new contract on a full-time basis.

He was named as Wasps' permanent head coach in April 2020.
