During his playing days, Travers was a hooker at CA Sarlat before moving on to Brive.
His coaching career began in 2001 with Clermont. In 2005, Travers teamed up with Laurent Labit, forming a coaching partnership which would span fourteen years. During that time, the duo took charge of US Montauban (2005-2009), Castres (2009-2013) - winning the French Championship in 2013 - and then Racing 92 in 2016.
Travers has served as Director of Rugby at Racing 92 since 2019.
