Born in Gore, New Zealand, Cowan has earned himself a reputation as one of the game's fiercest competitors. A quality operator at scrumhalf, Cowan possesses a whippy pass and packs a punch at 6 foot and almost 15 stone. The majority of Cowan's career has been spent at the Highlanders where he earned over 100 caps before moving to England to play for West Country side Gloucester. Cowan has featured on over 50 occasions for the All Blacks and has a World Cup winners medal to his name.
