Jamie Benson was born in Kensington in 2002 and attended Hampton School before studying at Downing College, Cambridge. A versatile back, he developed through the Harlequins academy and represented England at under-18 and under-20 level, earning four caps for the latter before progressing into the wider England A squad.
Benson made his Premiership debut for Harlequins in November 2024 and quickly showed his ability to influence games. One of his standout performances came against Saracens in March 2025, when he came off the bench at half-time and kicked 13 points to help turn a 12-0 deficit into a 23-12 victory. His contribution included three late penalties and two conversions.
Although fly-half is his preferred position, Benson can also cover centre and full-back. That versatility, combined with his composure from the kicking tee, made him an exciting prospect as he continued to develop in senior rugby.
In April 2026, Benson signed a two-year deal with Ulster, bringing his career to Ireland. Eligible through his mother, who grew up in Belfast, he made an early impression in Belfast and earned his first senior Ireland call-up for the November international fixtures against Argentina, Fiji and South Africa.
