Quite simply, George Naoupu is a sports ground legend. His place in the hearts of every Connacht fan was cemented when his try sealed victory over Bourgoin and sent Connacht through to the 2009 Amlin Cup semi final, where they were narrowly beaten by big spending Toulon.
A number 8 with fantastic ball carrying capabilities, Naoupu originally joined Connacht from the Super 14 side the Highlanders. Naoupu earned rave reviews in his first season with Connacht and these performances attracted the interest of Japanese side the Kobe Steelers, who offered Naoupu a tempting financial package.
After a year in Japan, Naoupu returned to the Sportsground, and his form has been so good it was like he never left. Naoupu represented New Zealand at both schools and under 19 level.
On 28 July 2016, George signed a deal with the Harlequins ahead of the 2016/17 Premiership season.
