Montes started off his career off with Stade Francais, spending 3 years and winning 1 Top 14 before moving to Toulouse in 2007.
His 7 years with Toulouse was his most successful, winning 3 Top 14 titles and 1 Heineken Cup.
In 2014 he joined Castres and now enters his 4th season with the club.
Following the conclusion of the 2017/18 Top 14 season Montes signed with Agen and will join the club ahead of the 2018/19 season.
