William Joseph, born on July 15, 2002, is an English professional rugby union player who currently plays as a centre for Harlequins in Premiership Rugby. He made his international debut for England in July 2022. He is also the younger brother of Jonathan Joseph, who is an England international and plays for Bath.
Joseph received his education at Millfield School. At the age of thirteen, he joined the academy of London Irish and made his club debut in 2021. He made a notable impact by scoring a try in the semi-final of the 2021-22 Premiership Rugby Cup against Leicester Tigers. He then started in the final, although the team finished as runners-up to Worcester Warriors.
Joseph has also represented the England under-18 and under-20 teams. He played for the England under-20 team during the 2022 Six Nations Under 20s Championship.
In May 2022, Joseph received his first call-up to the senior England squad for their tour of Australia under the coaching of Eddie Jones. On July 9, 2022, he made his senior debut for England as a late substitute during their second test victory at Lang Park. Although he was an unused substitute for the final game, he was part of the squad that secured a series win against Australia at Sydney Cricket Ground.
Following in the footsteps of his brother, Jonathan Joseph, Will joined the London Irish Academy at the age of 13. He played youth rugby with Newbury Blues and has been capped at the under-18 level with England, as well as representing Berkshire at the county level.
During the 2020-21 season, Joseph made his European and Premiership debut. Although injuries affected his 2021-22 season, he returned from a period on the sidelines and made significant contributions, scoring two runaway tries in crucial victories against Castres in the EPCR Challenge Cup and Leicester Tigers in the Premiership Rugby Cup.
Despite limited appearances and one try in the Premiership and Challenge Cup, Joseph was called up to Eddie Jones' squad for the tour of Australia, demonstrating his potential and earning his place in the national team.
