2nd Aug 1985 1.93m/112kg Openside Flanker

Widely admired as one of the world most destructive broken field running forwards, Ferris has made a reputation as one of the most physical players in Europe. Ferris made his Ulster debut against the new defunct Border Reivers in October 2005. Ferris’ form for Ulster saw him selected for Ireland’s senior squad to play the Pacific Islanders in November 2006. Ferris’ performances began to grow and he was selected for the 2007 Irish World Cup squad, where he failed to make an appearance. Injury unfortunately prevented Ferris from appearing during the 2008 Six Nations, but his good post Six Nations form saw the Ulster man selected for Ireland’s end of year tests. Ferris worked his ways into Declan Kidneys plans and was an ever present during Ireland’s 2009 Grand Slam winning Six Nations campaign. It wasn’t long before Ferris was selected for the British and Irish Lions. Ferris was selected in the Lions midweek warm up teams, scoring a try against the Golden Lions, but a medial collateral ligament injury ruled him out for the rest of the tour. Ferris was one of Ireland’s foremost players in the 2011 Rugby World Cup. Ferris was nominated for the 2012 ERC European Player of the year award.
