Sosefo Sakalia was born in Nukuʻalofa, Tonga and attended Apifo'ou College one of the oldest catholic schools in the country.
In 2010-2011, he represented Tonga U20 and made 7 appearances for his national team.
In 2014, he played for Steaua București in Romania and made 14 appearances scoring 3 tries.
In 2015, Sakalia made 7 appearances for Olimpia București in CEC Bank SuperLiga, Romania.
Sakalia made his international debut at the 2015 World Rugby Pacific Nations Cup in a match against the Canucks.
From 2016-2018, he played for Steaua București and made a total of 11 appearances scoring 40 points for the one of the most successful clubs in Romania with 24 Championship and 15 cup titles to their name .
In 2019, he signed for Asia Pacific Dragons.
He has recently been included in Tonga final training squad to prepare for the 2023 Rugby World Cup.
