Browne made his first team debut for the Newcastle Falcons against London Wasps during the 2007/8 season.
He was capped by England Students the same year and is also eligible to play for Ireland through his father, Rev. Leonard Browne.
Browne was educated at Dean Close School, Cheltenham, and became a theology student at Durham University.
He joined Ulster in the summer of 2015 from London Welsh and earned 16 caps in his debut season.
In November 2016, Browne signed a fresh Ulster contract which will keep him at Kingspan Stadium until 2019.
Browne made the last of his 34 Ulster appearances against Leinster in January 2018 before he announced, in October 2018 that he has been forced to retire from rugby with immediate effect after suffering repeated concussions.
