Australian-qualified while born and raised in New Zealand, Sapsford has been playing with Hawke’s Bay in New Zealand’s National Provincial competition since 2019 and has also earned a New Zealand 7's call up during that time. Sapsford is comfortable in the midfield and on the wing.
Ahead of 2022 Super Rugby Pacific season, he signed for the Brumbies on a 2-year deal.
