Nigel Ah Wong is a rugby union player who currently serves as a centre for Bay of Plenty in New Zealand's National Provincial Championship.
Ah Wong began his rugby career playing for Sunnybank, helping them win the Queensland Premier Rugby Hospital Cup in 2011. He was then selected for the Melbourne Rebels' European Tour as part of their development squad, known as the 'Rebels Rising'.
In 2012, Ah Wong was part of the Australian Rugby Union's National Academy and represented the Queensland Reds in an exhibition match against the Hurricanes. He joined the Reds Extended Playing Squad for the 2013 Super Rugby season, initially being named in the Reds College Squad but later promoted to the main squad.
After the 2013 Super Rugby season, Ah Wong signed with the Coca-Cola West Red Sparks in the Japanese Top League.
In 2017, Ah Wong moved to New Zealand and signed with Counties Manukau in the Mitre 10 Cup, New Zealand's domestic rugby competition. He later played for the Manawatu Turbos in the Mitre 10 Cup in 2020.
Ah Wong made his Super Rugby debut for the Brumbies in 2015 against the Cheetahs and quickly demonstrated his potential at the elite level. He has shown versatility in his game, combining strong running and ball-play to make an impact as an attacking threat.
As of the 2017 Super Rugby season, Ah Wong had accumulated 22 caps and 25 points in the tournament.
Ah Wong will be making his first appearance for Samoa as he was named in the 33-man 2023 Rugby World cup squad.
