Born in Otley, Tindall attended Queen Elizabeth Grammar School in Wakefield and since graduating has earned a reputation as a powerful ball carrying centre who is integral to any defensive system he plays within. Tindall began his career at Bath in 1997 and spent 8 season there before moving to bitter West Country rivals, Gloucester in 2005. During his time at Bath, the centre made his England debut and would later go on to captain the national side on numerous occasions. In 2014, Gloucester decided against renewing his contract for the upcoming season, Tindall decided to retire after a successful 17 year career. Tindall was the last member of the victorious England side that won the World Cup in 2003 to retire.
