McKee is from Waikaia and has played rugby in Scotland and age-group level for Otago.
In 2015, he was contracted by the Stags but made just one appearance from the bench in the last game of the season against Canterbury.
After another good season for the Eastern-Northern Barbarians at club level the lock earned a spot in the Southland squad again in 2016.
