Mike Kainga's impressive domestic performances see him named in the Chiefs Wider Training Squad for the 2013 Super Rugby season.
Kainga was a member of the New Zealand Under 20 side which won the 2011 IRB Junior World Championship. He played in 4 games during the tournament, 1 start and 3 substitute appearances. His brute power at a young age make him a dominant player on the field.
Kainga was called into the Hurricanes squad during the 2016 Super Rugby season and made 3 appearances for the Wellington based side. He was re-selected in the Hurricanes squad for the 2017 season.
