Matías Alemanno is an Argentine rugby union player who specializes in the lock position. He was born on 5 December 1991.
Alemanno currently plays for Gloucester in Premiership Rugby and represents the Argentina national rugby union team.
Alemanno began his rugby career at the youth level, representing Argentina Under-20 in the 2010 and 2011 IRB Junior World Championships. He then progressed to play for Argentina's representative teams, including the Jaguars and the Pampas XV.
He was part of the Pampas XV squad that competed in the 2013 Vodacom Cup in South Africa and toured Australia in 2014.
His senior international debut for Argentina came on 17 May 2014, where he scored a try in a comfortable victory against Uruguay. He continued to feature in Argentina's matches, including the victory over Chile, during the 2014 mid-year rugby union internationals series.
In August 2014, he was named in the squad for the 2014 Rugby Championship.
Alemanno initially signed with the Jaguares, an Argentine team in Super Rugby, until 2020. During his time with the Jaguares, he played 46 matches and scored two tries.
He also represented Argentina in the 2015 Rugby World Cup, where he scored a try against Namibia. In a historic moment, Alemanno was a starter for the Argentina national team in their first-ever win against the All Blacks on 14 November 2020.
In July 2020, Alemanno made the decision to move to England and joined Gloucester in the Premiership. As of September 2019, he had accumulated 57 caps for the Argentina national team.
Ahead of the Rugby World Cup 2023, Alemanno has been named in the squad for Argentina.
