Scotland have won four of their previous five men’s Test matches against Canada (L1), including each of their last three by an average margin of 27 points – Scotland’s only previous defeat against Canada came in June 2002 (23-26).

Canada have lost each of their last two Test matches, both against Tonga, after winning four in five previously (L1) – they scored just three points during their most recent outing (3-28 v Tonga in August 2023), their lowest tally since failing to score against New Zealand in the 2019 Rugby World Cup (0-63).

Canada have won three of their last four Test matches against European sides (L1), including their most recent (37-25 v Netherlands) after losing four in a row previously, however, they have lost each of their last 30 Test matches against Six Nations sides by an average margin of 31 points.

Scotland have lost each of their last two Test matches but have not lost three in a row since October 2019-February 2020; each of Scotland’s five games in this year’s Guinness Men’s Six Nations were decided by margins of fewer than 10 points.

Scotland lost their most recent Test match in North America, suffering a first ever defeat against USA in June 2018 (29-30), which was their first loss on the continent since their first such match against Canada in June 2002 (23-26).

Scotland made the most carries (152), gained the most metres (650) and beat the most defenders (42.3) per game of any side in the 2023 Rugby World Cup and were one of just two sides to gain 400+ metres per game in this year’s Guinness Men’s Six Nations (407, also Ireland).

Scotland had the highest tackle success rate of any team in both the 2023 Rugby World Cup (89.6%) and the 2024 Guinness Men’s Six Nations (89.3%), however, they also made fewer dominant tackles per game than any other side during last year’s World Cup (7.0).

Canada’s Conor Young is one of just two players to have played 600+ minutes in Major League Rugby this season without conceding a single turnover (699. also Alex Maughan), while fellow Canadian front-row Dewald Kotze has the third best lineout throwing success rate of any player in the league this year (86%, min.50 throws).

Scotland’s Kyle Rowe beat more defenders per 80 minutes than any of the other 102 players to feature for 160+ minutes in the 2024 Guinness Men’s Six Nations (5.5) – among the 122 players to face 10+ tackles in this year’s Championship, he was one of just three to evade over half of them (55%, also Damian Penaud and Alex Mitchell).

Scotland’s Duhan van der Merwe was the joint-top try scorer in the 2024 Guinness Men’s Six Nations (5, also Dan Sheehan), with his tally of five being the joint-most by a Scotland player in a single edition of the Championship, alongside the five he scored in 2021.
