A former South African U20 Pretorius joined the Lions after school and made his first-class debut in the 2013 Vodacom Cup.
In 2014 he represented UJ in the Varsity Cup before he was called into the Lions Super Rugby side after the side were hit with injuries to their other hookers.
He made his debut off the bench against the Reds.
In 2016 he joined the SWD Eagles and spent one season with the side before joining the Pumas
