Having begun to play for West of Scotland while at university, Karen made her international debut against Italy in the 2014 6 Nations.
She has also been capped for Scotland Women 7s, playing in both European Grand Prix tournaments of 2015.
In January 2017, she was named in the Scotland Women squad for the 2017 Six Nations tournament.
