John Fogarty is an Irish rugby union player turned coach. He was born on October 18, 1977, and played as a hooker during his career. Fogarty represented three of the four Irish provincial teams: Munster, Connacht, and Leinster. He also played at the international level for Ireland A and Ireland.

Fogarty started his career with a two-year stint at Munster from 2000 to 2002. He then moved to Connacht, where he made 107 appearances. During his time at Connacht, he played 80 games in the Celtic League and 27 games in the European Challenge Cup.

Fogarty captained Connacht in the 2006-07 season in both competitions. In 2008, he transferred to Leinster ahead of the 2008-09 season.

Fogarty received his first call-up to the Ireland national team for the 2010 tour of New Zealand and Australia. He earned his first test cap as a replacement against the All Blacks on June 12, 2010, playing in the 75th minute.
He also represented an Ireland XV against the New Zealand Māori team.

In November 2010, Fogarty announced his retirement from playing due to repeated concussions and medical advice.

After retiring, Fogarty began his coaching career. He became an Elite Player Development Officer with Leinster, working with the Leinster 'A' team and serving as the scrum coach for the Ireland Under-20s.

In June 2015, he was appointed as the scrum coach for Leinster. In April 2019, Fogarty took on the role of IRFU National Academy Forwards Coach, replacing Greg Feek after the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan.
