Jean-François Coux first professional club was Vinay whom he played for from 1998 to 1999. He later moved to CS Bourgoin-Jallieu for the 1999-2000 Top 14 season. He spent 11 years a Bourgoin before joining SU Agen in 2011.
Coux scored on his international debut against the All Blacks at Eden Park, as France lost 42-11.
Coux left Agen in 2013 to join Oyonnax ahead of the 2013/14 season.
