James Hudson joined Gloucester Rugby ahead of the 2013-14 season from Newcastle Falcons. During his time with the Falcons he established himself as one of the first names on the team sheet and a real leader, captaining the side for two seasons.

He started his career at Bath Rugby, then moved along the M4 to London Irish where his stay included a start in the 2008-9 Premiership Final, before his move to Newcastle. As well as making well in excess of 100 Premiership appearances, he has also been capped at England Saxons on several occasions.

Hudson then joined Gloucester from the Falcons ahead of the 2013-14 season.

He injured his knee when appearing as a replacement in Gloucester's first preseason friendly in September 2015, away at Exeter Chiefs and failed to recover.

October 2016 saw him announce his retirement from professional rugby after over 250 appearances in a career, which included representing Bath Rugby, London Irish and Newcastle Falcons as well as Gloucester in the Premiership.
