Gerhardus Cornelis Steenekamp, commonly known as Gerhard Steenekamp, is a talented South African rugby union player who has made a mark in provincial and national levels. He was born on 9 April 1997 in Potchefstroom, South Africa. Standing at an impressive height of 1.94 m (6 ft 4+1⁄2 in) and weighing 128 kg (282 lb), he brings size and power to the field in his regular position as a loosehead prop.

Steenekamp's rugby journey started at Potchefstroom Gimnasium, where he captained the school's rugby team. He showcased his skills and potential while representing the Leopards at various youth levels before transitioning to the Blue Bulls after completing his school education. As part of the Blue Bulls, he made valuable contributions to their under-19 team and caught the attention of selectors.

In 2017, Steenekamp's talent earned him a place in the Bulls' wider training squad for the Super Rugby competition. His dedication and hard work paid off when he was also selected for the South Africa Under-20 national team for the U20 World Championship. Representing his country on the international stage, he gained valuable experience and exposure.
