David Alexander Sharp Sisi, born on February 5, 1993, is a German-born Italian professional rugby union player. He primarily plays as a lock and currently represents Zebre Parma in the United Rugby Championship.
Sisi has also represented Italy at the international level, making his test debut against Scotland during the 2019 Six Nations Championship. Throughout his career, he has played for clubs such as London Irish, London Scottish, Bath, and Leeds Tykes.
Sisi is of Italian descent and is eligible to play for Italy through his paternal grandparents and his father Carlo. His mother, Barbara, is English. He has a younger brother named Adam. Sisi's involvement in rugby began during his secondary school years when he was introduced to the sport at the age of 11.
He joined the local club Tottonians and went on to represent Hampshire RFU. At the age of 16, he was offered a place in the London Irish Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence (AASE) scheme.
He joined the London Irish academy and pursued his education part-time at St. Paul's College while also signing a full-time contract with London Irish. At the time, he became the youngest player to represent the club's first team. As part of the England under-20 team, Sisi achieved success by winning the Six Nations Championship twice and the Junior World Cup.
Sisi later moved to Bath, where he spent four years. During his time at Bath, he also had loan periods with Yorkshire Carnegie (formerly Leeds Carnegie) and London Scottish. On July 31, 2017, Sisi signed with Italian club Zebre in the Pro14, commencing from the 2017-18 season. This move allowed him to represent Italy at the international level.
While Sisi was initially named in the England Under-20 squad in 2012 and 2013, he made the decision to represent Italy in 2019. As a result, he was named in the final 31-man squad for the 2019 Rugby World Cup, marking his debut on the global stage.
Sisi is known for his abrasive and direct running style, displaying a high work rate on the field. He achieved significant success at the England under-20 level, winning both the U20 Six Nations and Junior World Championship titles in 2013. Sisi joined Bath Rugby from London Irish for the 2013/14 season and made a significant impact. He also had a loan spell at London Irish in March 2015 before being released from Bath Rugby in June 2017.
Ahead of the Rugby World Cup 2023, Sisi has been named in the squad for Italy.
