A product of the Exeter Chiefs Academy set-up, Danny Southworth began playing rugby at an early age for his hometown club, Barnstaple RFC.
He would work his way up through the age groups with Barum, before continuing his rugby development at Ivybridge Community College, where he would regularly feature alongside fellow Chiefs, Alfie Petch, Max Norey and Rus Tuima.
The Chiefs liked what they saw off the ambitious loose-head, who was offered an initial rugby apprenticeship before moving onto a senior academy contract.
Since being with the Chiefs, Southworth has garnered game time with Barnstaple, Chinnor and Plymouth Albion in National League One.
He has also featured for the Chiefs first team in the Premiership Rugby Cup and also the Gallagher Premiership, where he capped his maiden appearance with a try in their away game against Wasps in October 2020.
For the 2022/23 season, Southworth will be plying his trade in the RFU Championship with Coventry RFC on dual-registered terms.
