South African born Poolman started his career with the Western Province and went on to make 10 appearances for Super Rugby side the Stormers, scoring one try.
The fullback joined Connacht in 2012 and had a successful 5 year period at the club, scoring 21 tries in his time at the club.
At the end of the 2016/17 season, Poolman left the club when his contract expired.
