Born in Banbury, England, Rimmer is a versatile member of the front-row and is comfortable operating on both the loosehead and tighthead of the scrum.
A graduate of the Woodlands School, Rimmer made his professional debut with Cornish pirates in the Championship before linking up with Exeter in the summer of 2012. Despite representing England at Under 20 level, Rimmer is eligible to play for both England and Wales.
In May 2012, Exeter announced the signing of Rimmer on a one year deal.
In February 2017, Rimmer penned a two-year contract with Exeter Chiefs, having played over 15 times in the 2017 season.
Rimmer suffered a stroke during a Chiefs training session two days after a Premiership game against Newcastle Falcons in January 2018, spending the majority of the week in hospital.
After waiting to see whether the issue would correct itself over time, medical professionals advised Rimmer to retire from the game.
