Zaruba had his rugby break in 2014-15 after he was named in the Canada 7s squad for the series’ opening tournament at the Gold Coast Sevens.
He went on to play in all nine legs of the Sevens Series in his debut campaign.
The North Vancouver native had been playing for Capilano RFC in Vancouver for several years before his call-up to the national side.
In July 2017, Canada Sevens player Zaruba traded in his rugby boots for a shot at glory in the NFL after inking a deal with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Zaruba, who played as a forward for Canada in the World Rugby Sevens series, tried out for the Eagles over the weekend and impressed them enough to earn a contract offer on Monday.
The 26-year-old last played organised American football in high school and will play as a tight end for the Eagles.
