Alex Penny has played with teams who have climbed a league year on year since 2014.
He joined the Ealing Trailfinders in 2014 from National 2 South team Henley Hawkes, and won the National 1 with Ealing to be promoted to Greene King IPA Championship for the 2016/17 season.
He established himself as a first choice prop in the 2015/16 season and secured 2 tries. The opportunity to play for England Counties was short lived as injury struck.
In the 2016/17 season, he was in 19 match-day squads and scored one try for Ealing before joining Greene King IPA Championship rivals Bedford Blues.
Penny made 62 appearances for the club, scoring three tries as Bedford reached the British & Irish Cup Semi-Finals and third place in the Championship table in his first season at Goldington Road.
In February 2021, he announced his retirement from rugby.
