Boan Venter Headed to the Lions

The Lions have announced another major addition as they continue to bolster their playing roster.
Following the recent acquisitions of Springboks Ruan Venter, Quan Horn and Morné van der Berg, the Johannesburg franchise revealed on Monday that they have secured the services of Springbok prop Boan Venter.
The 28-year-old front-rower is set to join the Gauteng-based side in July 2026 after completing his stint with Scottish club Edinburgh.
Renowned for his strong carries and dependable work at scrum time, the former Cheetahs prop had been widely tipped to qualify for Scotland at international level. Those discussions were ended earlier this year when Venter made his Test debut for South Africa.
He became the Springboks’ 950th capped player and celebrated the milestone in style, crossing the try line in the emphatic 55–10 win over Georgia at Mbombela Stadium.
