USA Perpignan Confirm Two-Month Layoff for Jamie Ritchie

Perpignan have confirmed that Scotland international Jamie Ritchie will be sidelined for around two months after sustaining a tibial plateau fracture during Scotland’s Calcutta Cup win over England in round two of the Guinness Six Nations.
Ritchie, who had returned to the starting line-up after missing the opening defeat to Italy, was injured shortly before half-time at Murrayfield. He was replaced at the interval and later returned to his club for further assessment.
Medical examinations have ruled out the need for surgery, but the 29-year-old will miss the remainder of the Six Nations and a significant stretch of the Top 14 season.
In a statement, Perpignan confirmed that Ritchie has begun his rehabilitation programme, with a projected return to action in approximately eight weeks, subject to his recovery progressing as planned.
The injury is a setback for both Scotland and Perpignan, who are currently battling near the bottom of the Top 14 table and fighting to avoid relegation. Ritchie is expected to be available for the closing stages of the domestic campaign if his recovery stays on schedule.
