Harlequins Women can confirm that centre Lagi Tuima will depart the Club at the end of the season, bringing to an end an incredible seven years wearing the Quarters.
Tuima’s glittering spell in TW2 has seen her make 107 appearances for the Club, sitting second on the all-time appearance list for Harlequins Women, scoring 381 points in the process.
Throughout her time at Harlequins, Tuima has established herself as one of the best centres in the PWR, orchestrating the backline from the middle of the park.
Tuima was a critical part of the Harlequins Women’s side that won the Premier15s title in 2021, kicking four penalties in the final to help her side secure a famous victory over Saracens at Kingsholm.
A senior player within the squad, Tuima has been vice-captain for Harlequins for the past two seasons and has captained the side on 11 occasions during her spell in West London.
Ross Chisholm paid tribute to Tuima for the legacy she has created at the Club:
“Lagi is a player who will forever be remembered at Harlequins. Across her time at the Club, she has grown from a young player to a senior leader within the environment and a player that is looked up to by a number of the players in the squad. She was a crucial part of the Premier15s title winning side and has been a wonderful servant to the Club.”
He continued: “This year, she led a young PWR Cup squad to the final and really helped steer the side through that campaign. I was delighted to also see her pick up her 100th cap for the Club against Gloucester-Hartpury. To become just the fourth person at the time to reach that milestone for Harlequins Women was richly deserved. We want to wish Lagi all the best in her next stage of her career and thank her for all she has given to the shirt.”
