Mataafa Ramsey Tomokino

1st Jan 1970 1.78m/102kg Head Coach

His tenure has included winning an Oceania Championship 2023 and the AsiaPacific Championship in 2019. Bar the title successes, Tomokino has led Samoa
to several runners-up placings between 2018-2025, and is the longest serving
Manusina Head Coach in it’s 25 year history virtually having to build a new squad
after a 4 year hiatus with no Manusina team since 2014. Amongst his many
coaching milestones Tomokino has taken the team to new heights with
Qualification to the WXV 2 & 3 tournaments held in Cape Town and Dubai
respectively. The achievement of qualifying for the World Cup is just reward for
his persistence given Covid travel restrictions halted any chances of Samoa
making the last World Cup. Having achieved his personal goal of taking Samoa to
the World Cup, the World Cup will be his final time in charge of Manusina, also of
note is the inclusion of a number of female coaching staff. Tomokino also led the
Samoa 7s team to an Olympic Qualifier back in 2016 in Ireland, himself a former
7s International for Samoa.
